Problem with Cycle Once Every Day and Exit

Just started using WPC last Saturday and am having an unexpected issue.

Wallpaper Cycler 3.6.0.180 Lite set for Cycle Once Every Day and Exit (all other options deselected.)

OS is Windows 7 Professional

WPC works exactly as expected at "first" bootup each day with this option selected (i.e. it cycles the wallpaper to the next image and then shuts itself down.)

However, if I shutdown my PC and reboot it the "same day" (or, more common, need to reboot it for some reason the "same day") on restart WPC doesn't doesn't shut itself down (i.e. it stays "active" showing up in the task bar.)

Note: It's not cycling the wallpaper, so it recognizes it's still the same day. But it's not shutting itself down like it does on the first boot of the day.

Anyone know why it might be doing this or how to make it work as expected Image

Sounds like a bug.
I'll add it to the list of issues to fix.

Thanks!

FYI, as a work around for anyone else experiencing this problem.

  • Uncheck all of WPC's "startup" options.
  • Create a task in Windows Task Scheduler to run WPC once a day using the "-cycle_and_exit" argument (I set mine for a 01:00 am start time.)
  • Set the task to run as soon as possible if it's missed
This makes it work as expected (i.e. if I reboot/restart during the same day, WPC doesn't stay active) and is a workable solution until the bug can be fixed.

Nice workaround.
Thanks for sharing it.
